Floating Lotus – Vintage Silk Kimono Scarf / 蓮のスカーフ
Add a touch of timeless Japanese elegance to your wardrobe with this limited-edition vintage silk kimono scarf. Handcrafted in London by Risa, this lightweight piece acts as a sophisticated layer of wearable art, carrying a deeply meaningful history.
The rare vintage kimono silk used for this scarf was gifted by an English gentleman in memory of his late Japanese wife, an exceptionally talented artist and author who passed away in 2025. This very piece was featured in our recent video, documenting the journey of honouring her creative spirit. Through thoughtful transformation, her cherished textile has been given a second life in the West—allowing her legacy, artistry, and heritage to live on.
The design features a serene Floating Lotus (蓮) motif. In traditional Japanese culture, the lotus carries a poetic and comforting meaning, symbolising purity, resilience, and the peaceful awakening of the soul as it blossoms beautifully out of muddy waters. Styled to capture the gentle, fluid movement of a flower floating peacefully on a stream, this pattern brings together timeless elegance and a sense of calm, sacred luxury.
How to Style ItWear it traditionally draped or knotted around the neck to elevate a simple blouse, dress, or knit, or creatively tie it around your waist or favourite handbag. The tranquil motifs and soft texture make it a versatile, deeply sentimental statement piece suitable for all seasons.
