The Story Behind the Piece

This Furoshiki is made from a 2000s kimono, gifted by a woman in Osaka, Japan. It belonged to her late mother, who wore it with pride and grace. As she no longer wears kimono herself, she wished for the fabric to be given a second life—transformed into something meaningful that could continue its journey.

The lily motif on the outer fabric conveys quiet strength and elegance, while the orange silk—once the inner lining—adds a layer of warmth and brightness. Together, they reflect a story of memory, transformation, and enduring beauty.

This piece is a quiet celebration of legacy and the refined spirit of Kyoto textile art.
