The Story Behind the Piece
Crafted from vintage obi—traditional sashes once worn with kimono—this clutch honors the artistry and sentiment of Japanese textile heritage. The obi featuring the flower basket (花籠) motif was kindly gifted to me in spring 2025 by a close friend, who discovered it among her late grandmother’s belongings in Japan. She donated it with the heartfelt wish to share the enduring beauty of kimono and the spirit it carries forward.
The interior is lined with coordinating obi fabric for a rich, layered touch. A durable YKK metal zipper from Japan completes the piece, ensuring both quality and longevity. Every detail is made to preserve the past while adding purpose in the present.
Note: There are stains on the back of the clutch transferred from display paint
