The Story Behind the Piece
This elegant scrunchie is made from a vintage 1980s kimono obi, sourced from a trusted kimono retailer in Shizuoka, Japan. The fabric, woven with delicate gold thread, has a subtle, luxurious shimmer. Its smooth texture and minimal embroidery make it gentle on the hair and easy to wear—blending simplicity with quiet elegance.
Originally intended for formal occasions such as weddings and coming-of-age ceremonies, this obi once symbolized celebration and grace. Now lovingly reimagined as a scrunchie, it brings a piece of that heritage into your everyday life—a beautiful fusion of past and present, crafted for those who appreciate thoughtful design with a meaningful story.
The silk was sourced in Kyoto’s renowned Nishijin district and carefully reimagined at my London atelier.
